History buffs and military enthusiasts rejoice! Re-enactment shows are set to take place in Suffolk and Essex, showcasing people recreating historical events and time periods.

First up is the Suffolk Military Show, taking place on Saturday 29th (09.00-17.00) and Sunday 30th July (10.00-16.00) 2023 at the Suffolk Show Ground, Trinity Park, Felixstowe Road Ipswich IP3 8UH. Next, Temple at War will take place over the weekend of Saturday 11th May 2024 0900 hrs – 1700 hrs Sunday 12th May 2024 1000 hrs – 1600 hrs Cressing Temple Barns, Witham Rd, Cressing, Braintree CM77 8PD. This two-day event will take visitors back to World War II, with a range of living history re-enactments, displays, and demonstrations. Visitors can explore an authentic WWII camp, watch battle re-enactments, and see vintage vehicles including tanks and planes.

For those interested in ancient history, Echoes of History 2023 will be held on the 12th and 13th of August 2023 at Whitehouse Farm, The Living Memorial, Rettendon, Essex, CM3 8DL between the hours of 10 am and 5 pm each day. Visitors can expect to see a range of historical periods represented, from ancient Greece and Rome to Viking and medieval times. There will be demonstrations of archery, sword fighting, and battle re-enactments, as well as plenty of opportunities to learn about daily life and culture in ancient times.

Finally, for a more focused experience on ancient history, Ancient History Alive will take place at Stonham Barns Park on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th June 2023 10 am-4 pm. Visitors can step back in time and learn about Ancient History from the Celts to the Romans all the way through to the Early Saxons. There will be demonstrations of ancient crafts, combat and other displays making it a great educational experience for families.
